Short Story

Established in 1902, King Edward VII School is one of South Africa’s leading public boys’ schools, recognised for its academic excellence, strong sports culture, and deep community values.
Guided by our motto, “STRENUE – With Zeal and Devotion”, the school has a long history of producing well-rounded young men who lead with integrity and passion.

The KES Rowing Club embodies this spirit through discipline, teamwork, and commitment — and the annual KES Regatta on the 17th January 2026 showcases these values in action.

The Soweto Rowing Club was formed in 1987 to bring rowing to underprivileged children in Soweto and to enable a healthy recreational activity for the youth who would otherwise not have access to the sport.

The challenge is purposeful. Every donation or pledge will help fund Trisuits for the Soweto Rowing Club and help promote Mental Health Awareness in South Africa.

Story

Matthew and ME a non-profit organisation which implements, educates and presents programs regarding mental health first aid, mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

Our mission is to reduce stigma, promote awareness, advocate for Mental Health, and ensure that every South African has access to the care they need.

One Life Lost Is Enough. Saving Lives, Bringing Smiles, Having Honest Conversations Matthew Ernstzen was an awesome boy. He was healthy, loved sport, cricket, rugby, cycling, running, going to gym. He loved school and he loved his friends. Above all he was kind. Tragically, having experienced several traumas followed by depression and anxiety, Matthew died by suicide at the age of 16.

Following this, Matthew’s parents realised how uninformed they, Matthew, and so many other are around Mental illness and suicide sign because of the lack of dialogue and information. Thus Matthew and Me was formed and a pledge was made to prevent such losses for other families.
